- Stewards, motivated by mission and knowing they have a part to play, are called to give their first fruits. Jesus Christ, who gave us his very self, asks us to share our own self in return. Tithing is about the need to give. We give because by it, we imitate God who has given us everything. Tithing allows us to approach God in gratitude and reminds us that everything we call our own ultimately belongs to Him. A percentage of what we have earned is just a small token of gratitude for the gifts He has shared with us in His infinite generosity.
  As Christians, we are asked to give 10% of our income to the Church and / or missions and ministries, supporting those endeavors about which we feel most passionately. This is a beautiful opportunity to give of ourselves with a truly grateful response.
